In November, East Central High School teacher Shane McKay applied for a technology grant through Best Buy. In February, he received notification that he was awarded a $2,000 grant that will be used to enhance technology in the science department.

Items that will be purchased will be desktop PC computers and digital cameras.

The students are looking forward to using the equipment in the science class.

More than 8,000 schools applied and only 1,300 schools were awarded a grant.

According to McKay, the ECHS science department is committed to delivering a high quality, high-tech, 21st century science education.
