How would you care for your newly adopted pet? Can you express your thoughts on a poster? That’s what the Universal City Animal Care and Control, its support group Homes For The Homeless, and My Art Starz would like to know. They have teamed up to create a poster contest for just such a purpose. The groups invite children and teenagers in Universal City, as well as in the nearby communities of Converse, Live Oak, Schertz, Selma and Randolph Air Force Base, to enter the first-ever “Universal City Animal Shelter Poster Contest.” All entrants will be divided into four age groups: preschool; and grades 1-5, 6-8 and 9-12, all addressing the contest’s theme, “How would you care for your newly adopted pet?” The contest runs through Jan. 23; poster entry forms can be picked up at U.C. Animal Care & Control, 134 Athenian Drive; Universal City Animal Hospital, 2510 Pat Booker Road; Polly’s Pets, 940 Pat Booker Road; or the Homes for the Homeless Resale Shop. Entrants should make plans to drop off their posters at the animal shelter by the Jan. 23 contest cutoff date. Winners will be notified and invited to an awards ceremony to be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at the shelter. Every artist will receive a ribbon and the posters will be displayed at the shelter and at City Hall. |
