CyberSmarts

Today at 6 p.m., students are “Exploring Internet Explorer.” We’ll explain what a URL is, and how to look up Web sites and then navigate on them. On Tuesday at 10 a.m., we’ll be learning freshman e-mail in our “E-mail 101” class. Students will learn how to use a Yahoo e-mail account. Each class on the schedule is first-come, first-served, so please arrive on class day at 9 a.m. for the Tuesday classes, and at 5:45 p.m. for the Thursday classes.

Author Visit

Author Candy Calvert will be speaking at the library on Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m.. She is the writer of the Darcy Cavanaugh Cruise Mystery series. The first, “Dressed to Keel,” was published in May of last year, and her new novel, “Aye Do or Dye,” is set to be released later this month. Calvert will give a talk, and then sign copies of her books. As always, we’ll be serving delicious refreshments as well as coffee and tea.

Book Talk

The Food For Thought discussion group will meet at noon on Monday. The title for that get-together is “Small Island” by Andrea Levy. Please visit our Web site to see the complete list of titles we’ll be talking about in the coming months.

There’s a new meeting time for the Mysteries for Lunch bunch. Because of a scheduling conflict we are getting together on March 1 at 11:30 a.m. instead of noon. We’ll talk about James Lee Burke’s “Black Cherry Blues.”

Both of these groups are free and open to the public. Just bring your sack lunch and we’ll provide delicious desserts and hot gourmet teas.

Tax Assistance.

All eligible taxpayers can stop by the library and get tax assistance provided by the good folks with AARP. They will be available every Wednesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. through April 12. This service is free, and walk-ins are most welcome!
