The Spring Branch Post Office will celebrate its 150th anniversary Saturday. The community of Spring Branch started out and remains primarily a farm and ranch community. On July 1, 1858, Spring Branch was first recognized as the small community next to the Guadalupe River at the intersection of FM 311 and U.S. Highway 281 According to Postmaster Steven Miller, the entire community of Spring Branch enjoys the uniqueness of having only rural delivery with post office box delivery as an additional option. Today there are more than 5,000 rural delivery customers and 810 post office box customers. “There have been 18 postmasters, including myself, maintaining the tradition of providing the best postal service possible including retail and delivery services to all of our customers,” Miller said. “We will continue to welcome all comments and concerns which contribute to the U.S. Postal Service efforts to continually improve service.” Miller said the community is invited to help celebrate this milestone event which will be held at the Spring Branch Store on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. “There will be various craft and food booths, etc., as well as a USPS Passport Fair for those with the required documents wishing to obtain a passport,” Miller said. There will also be a Special Cancellation Stamp commemorating the 150th anniversary. “We look forward to the next 150 years,” Miller said. |
