Andrea Shannon has been named valedictorian of Randolph High School’s Class of 2006, and Cindy Lopez is this year’s salutatorian.

Randolph will hold its commencement services at 7 p.m. June 6 in the Judson High School Performing Arts Center on Schaefer Road in Converse. There will be 78 candidates for graduation.

Shannon is the daughter of Paul and Antonia Shannon of Cibolo. She gained her valedictory honors by posting a grade point average of 101.06250 on a scale of 100. She received marks above 100 because of advanced classes.

Lopez is the daughter Jose and Jeanie Lopez of Universal City. To gain her salutatorian designation, she posted a GPA of 100.78846 on a scale of 100 for her high school career.

Shannon will attend the University of Texas at Austin and plans to major in rhetoric and writing en route to pre-law. This is her seventh year in the Randolph Field ISD. She has been active in numerous activities including the Interact Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, band, theater, Student Council and the Student-to-Student transitioning program for new students.
