SCHERTZ — The Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City School Board approved the 2007-08 compensation plan June 21.

Salary increases for teachers, registered nurses, librarians and counselors will be given $2,000 plus a step increase, which includes $425 approved by the state Legislature in the spring.

A new teacher with a bachelor’s degree will earn $43,000 and a teacher with a master’s degree will start at $44,501.

Manual trades, clerical/paraprofessional and administrative pay grades will receive a 5 percent pay increase based upon the midpoint of the individual’s pay grade.

SCUCSD currently has more than 1,200 employees, including more than 600 teachers.

The district is currently building a new elementary school to open in the fall of 2008 and a new intermediate school in fall of 2009.
