Burglary of house

Jan. 1, 2:03 p.m., 700 block of Morningside: A homeowner reported he had found the back door to his house open on Dec. 30. At the time, he shut it and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. On Jan. 1, he found his laptop computer was missing from a table where he was using it. He said a flat-screen TV and desktop computer were also missing from the area. No signs of forced entry were found.

Burglary of vehicle

Jan. 3, 2:42 p.m., 300 block of Terrell: A car owner reported that during the previous night, someone had forced open the lock on her SUV and stole a number of items, including jewelry, a full makeup case and a bottle of champagne. Photos were taken of the scene.

Theft

Jan. 7, 9:59 a.m., 1000 block of Wiltshire: A woman reported that she thought her maid had stolen some jewelry. The woman said she has discovered her maid cleaning a shelf she had never cleaned before that had a jewelry box on it, and the maid got startled and dropped the box, breaking it. The woman also said she discovered several pieces worth almost $11,000 were missing. When the police questioned the maid, the maid said she didn’t have the items and they could search her home if they wanted. The maid was told if the items were returned in one day, no charges would be levied. The maid insisted she didn’t have the items and the homeowner proceeded to fire the maid.

Reckless driving

Jan. 7, 1:22 p.m., 300 block of Lilac: A homeowner told police that a white SUV had come down his street at a high rate of speed as his kids were playing nearby. He yelled at the driver to slow down. The car stopped at a nearby house and he confronted the driver. Words were exchanged and the driver got back in his car and peeled out and cursed the homeowner as he drove off. The homeowner got the license plate number and called the police to file a complaint.

Theft

Jan. 15, 6:50 p.m., 900 block of Morningside: A homeowner reported a trailer had been stolen from his carport after he and his wife had left the house earlier in the day.

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Jan. 15, 11:47 p.m., 5800 block of North New Braunfels: After stopping a car for a traffic stop, the officer found the driver had an expired driver’s license. The driver and passenger had conflicting stories what they had been doing and were asked to get out of the car. After the driver consented to a weapons search, an MP3 player and headphones were found, and also a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance. As the amount was very small, the driver was handcuffed and arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia

Theft

Jan. 16, 10:53 a.m., 100 block of Oakview: A homeowner reported two potted plants had been stolen from their front porch. The officer talked to the person about crime prevention measures and took a report.

Burglary of vehicle

Jan. 16, 2:10 p.m., 4600 block of Broadway: A woman reported the lock on her car had been punched in while she was inside a local restaurant. A black bag containing paperwork and personal items were missing.

Burglary of vehicle

Jan. 17, 8:58 p.m., 4900 block of Broadway: After leaving a local restaurant, a driver reported her car had been ransacked and the front door lock had been punched out. A cell phone, jewelry and other items were missing.

Burglary

Jan. 19, 10:42 p.m., 700 block of Grandview: An officer was dispatched to a burglary in progress, and to cover another officer. The area was canvassed as they searched for a bald white male six feet in height. No such person was found. The first officer reported the suspect had entered a house while the resident was at home.
