By Sandi Root Bulverde resident Imagine you are in the year 2017. Spring still arrives, and so do all of the other seasons in their order. Toll road fees just increased on U.S. 281 – yet again. Wal-Mart is so successful they want to build yet another store in this once-rural area – two, count ‘em, two Superstores in Bulverde! The “See What An Oak Tree Looks Like Designated Corner” at the former FM 1863 (now Highway 1863), and U.S. 281 (the old Johnson Ranch), is in danger of being turned into a gas station. These are among the last remaining oak trees in our area, and they want to cut even these down. Just about every acre in the county has been “developed” into subdivisions full of homes of varying sizes, and we are now called the San Antonio/Bulverde Corridor instead of Gateway To The Hill Country, as no Hill Country remains. The above is a nightmare to most of us living here, I would imagine, but help is on the way and their names are Cindy Cross and Cassandra Campbell. Both are running for seats on the Bulverde City Council in the May 12 election; Cindy is running to retain her seat and Cassandra is running to make sure Bulverde voters and taxpayers have continued exceptional local government. If you would like to see smart, thoughtful, controlled development; if you would like to see long-range water planning that includes input for ALL Bulverde residents who are affected; if transparency and honesty are important to Bulverde voters; if you chose/ like/ selected/ love/ sought living in rural Bulverde and would like to retain our Hill Country lifestyle, then voting for Cindy Cross and Cassandra Campbell is a HUGE step towards insuring we look more like 2007 instead of the nightmare of 2017! |
