Rekowski - Garcia

Son of Michael and Thelma Garcia of Timberwood Park, Matt is a 1999 graduate of Smithson Valley High School and a 2003 graduate of University of Dallas, where he earned a degree in chemistry. While on a study abroad program in Rome, Italy, in the spring of 2001, Matt met the love of his life, Jean, also a 2003 graduate of UD with a degree in math. Jean earned her masters at Western Illinois University in 2005. After a six-year courtship, Matt proposed to Jean in her hometown of Glen Carbon, Ill., while family and friends hid in waiting.

Matt’s brother, Chris Garcia, will be best man, and Edward Rodriquez, also an SVHS graduate, will be a groomsman.

After honeymooning in the Bahamas, the couple will make their home in Salisbury, N.C., where Matt is employed with National Starch & Chemical, an innovative polymer-adhesive plant, and Jean is director of student activities at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C.
