Grey Forest Farmer’s Market is held 3 to 6 p.m. at the Scenic Loop Playground Club, 18249 Sherwood Trail, off of Scenic Loop Road. The event is held the first and third Fridays of each month.

The Maverick Friends of the Library will hold a used book sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Maverick Library, 8700 Mystic Park, San Antonio. Most books are priced at $1 or 50 cents, with proceeds going to support the branch library. “Exploring the Canyon” interpretive walks meet at the Government Canyon visitors’ center, 12861 Galm Road, at 9:30 a.m. on the third Saturday and Sunday of each month. Bring a liter of water, snacks and sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails. Length of walks and interpretive topics vary. The Leon Valley Fire Department hosts a health and science fair 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Leon Valley Convention Center, 6421 Evers Road. The free, event includes demonstrations on the 9-1-1 system, proper car seat installation, smoke detectors, life-saving CPR and an AirLife helicopter and crew. Wednesday

The Cavender Chevrolet 2008 Live Music Series at The County Line, a benefit for the San Antonio Food Bank, is held 6 to 10 p.m. each Wednesday through Oct. 29 at the County Line Bar-B-Q, 10101 Interstate 10 West.

The South Texas Destroyers open at 6:30 p.m. before featured act Micky and the Motorcars at 8 p.m. The live music series is free. Customers are asked to make a food or monetary donation to the food bank.

Alamo Cycle Plex sponsors

an event for motorcycle enthusiasts 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Old Town Grill, 14436 Old Bandera Road, in Helotes. In addition to motorcycles and music, the event will feature a barbecue dinner of pit-roasted chicken or barbecued brisket and sausage with German potato salad, cucumber salad and house salad for $9.99. There will be a cash bar, door prizes, gift cards.
