Goodwill Industries of San Antonio is asking business owners and individuals who are upgrading their computers that instead of taking their old monitors, hard drives or printers to the landfill, they bring them to Goodwill instead. Through “Reconnect,” a program in partnership with Dell, Goodwill recycles and resells donated equipment at locations including its Computer Works store, located at 4914 NW Loop 410. Proceeds from the sales of refurbished computers go to support Goodwill programs, including job training and placement services for San Antonians facing barriers to employment. In addition, the used computers provide a lower-cost alternative for individuals or non-profit groups who cannot afford new computer equipment. The program also helps keep hazardous components like lead, mercury and chromium from contaminating the environment. Donated computers are accepted at any of 27 San Antonio area Goodwill retail stores or donation stations. For more information, call 1-800-483-9455 or visit www.goodwillsa.org or www.reconnectpartnership.com. |
