For her accomplishments in the classroom, and her actions on the volleyball court, senior Kari Chapman is the Incarnate Word Student-Athlete of the Year for 2006-2007.

As a double major in accounting and sports management in the UIW School of Business Administration, Kari has maintained a 3.78 grade point average.

With that GPA, for the third straight year, she will be on the Heartland Conference President’s Honor Roll.

She has been listed on the UIW Dean’s List each and every semester at UIW.

She is a member of Delta Mu Delta Honor Society. She expects to complete her degree requirements in December of this year.

Additionally, this year Kari received “Special Recognition” for her volunteer work with VITA, a group which provides free income tax assistance for low income persons.

On the court during 2006, she earned a spot on the All-Alamo City Classic team, and once she was hitter of the week in the Heartland Conference. At the end of the regular season, she was voted second team All-Heartland Conference.

In the Heartland, her 51 service aces ranked second while her 95 blocked shots were fourth. She led UIW in six different statistical categories and was second in two more. She played in 110 of a possible 114 games during the season.
