Special to the Southside Reporter The National Association for Retired and Current Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1594, held it’s monthly meeting Sept. 17, at the Fair Avenue Apartments. Floyd Pilgrim opened the meeting with prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Twenty-four members were present. The chapter honored member Robert Biedler. Biedler’s first jobs were stripping piano finishes and repairing radios. He was also an engineer for Radio Corporation of America. He was drafted in November of 1952 and went into active duty under the Scientific and Professional Program. Biedler’s federal career began at Olmsted Air Force Base in Pennsylvania. He transferred to Kelly AFB in July 1965. He retired in 1999 with more than 38 years of service. Lanita Perry won the 50/50. Georgia Lindinger and Anita Perry won door prizes. Joyce Zerr, Stella Flores, Georgia Lindinger, Isabel Cuellar and Robert Biedler furnished refreshments. The next meeting will be held Oct. 15, 1 p.m., at the Fair Avenue Apartments.
