Spurred on by the well-wishes of students half a nation away, Palo Alto Elementary School teacher Trish Galatiuk took part in the New York City Marathon on Nov. 2.

The first-grade teacher dashed around the five boroughs of the Big Apple in a time of three hours, 57 minutes and seven seconds.

It was the fifth time Galatiuk has completed the 26.2-mile test of endurance.

Palo Alto Elementary School is in the South San Antonio Independent School District.
