Eastwood Village Neighborhood Association meeting will be held at W.W. White Elementary School, at 545 S.W. W. White Road at 6:30 p.m. They will discuss street lights, speed humps, street improvements, neighborhood crime and other topics. Call Henry Gallon at 337-4395.

San Antonio Audubon Society’s (SAAS) will a meeting at 7 p.m. at the Lion’s Field Adult & Senior Citizens Center at 2809 Broadway (southwest corner at Mulberry Avenue). Donnell (Don) Hester, a member of SAAS, will present a program on “The Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge and the Festival of the Cranes.” Non-members are welcome. Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 485, is having an enchilada plate fundraiser, from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. A donation of $5 is requested. There will also be a flea market fundraiser starting at 9 a.m. American Legion Post 485 is located at 431 Kendalia Ave. Call 922-8192.

Sunday

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9186, at 650 VFW Blvd., will have a free dance from 4 to 9 p.m. Los Superiores will provide music. VFW Post 9186 is located across from Mission County Park directly behind the Mission Drive-in Theater. The dance will be in the front hall.

Monday

The Runge Family will have a meeting regarding its upcoming family reunion at the Claude Black Center, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will also be another meeting on April 7. For any questions, call Ivy Jones at 333-5778, or Mary Fisher at 337-3839.

Palo Alto College will be hosting a Women’s Health Fair at the Student Center located at 1400 W. Villaret Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Events begin with the reading of a Proclamation honoring National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day in San Antonio. Other events include educational presentations, a theatrical performance by Mujeres Unidas Contra el SIDA, free HIV antibody testing, information booths, snacks and door prizes. Wednesday

The next membership meeting for the members of Friends of the McCreless Branch Library will be held at 7 p.m.  The meeting will be held in the community room of McCreless library at 1023 Ada St. The meeting is open to the public. 

Upcoming

Pecan Valley Neighborhood Association will have a meeting March 13 at 7 p.m., at Pecan Valley Elementary School on East Southcross Boulevard. The focus will the upcoming bond election.

San Antonio Youth Centers is having an event called “Chips N Salsa” on April 19, from 7 to 11 p.m., at El Tropicano Hotel River Walk, 110 Lexington Ave. Call (800) 345-8082. San Antonio Youth Centers is an organization that provides activities and programs for underprivileged inner-city kids.

The 11th annual San Antonio Poetry Fair deadline is June 9. The fair has several contests for adults and students. Cash awards, trophies, published in anthology, read at fair in October. AARP is sponsoring free tax preparation assistance at different locations through April 15. Aides are available 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays at H-E-B Plus, 6816 S. Zarzamora St. and Commander’s House Senior Center, 647 S. Main Ave., Wednesdays at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Alcohol Chemical Treatment Series (ACTS) has a class meeting every Thursday, from 7 to 8 p.m., and a support group meeting afterward from 8 to 9 p.m. ACTS is a support program to enable people who want to maintain a drug-free lifestyle. The program meets at 350 Utopia Lane. ACTS is a licensed faith-based Christian program. Call Bill Dame at 827-1160.
