Special to the North San Antonio Times Trinity University junior forward Meghan Scholbe scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Tiger women to a 75-59 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Sunday over the Austin College Kangaroos in Sams Gym. Scholbe hit 7 of 11 from the field, sank 4 of 4 free throws, grabbed three rebounds and made three assists, one block and three steals. Trinity (17-7 overall, 10-4 SCAC) secured a third-place berth in the SCAC Championship Tournament Friday though Sunday at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. The Tigers will meet host Rhodes, seeded sixth, in the first round of the eight-team tournament. The tournament winner gets the SCAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. Austin College (14-9, 8-6 SCAC), finished fifth and will play No. 4 Hendrix in the opening round. The Kangaroos beat the Tigers 88-80 in Jan. 7 in Sherman. Tiger sophomore post Krista Prato Matthews added 12 points and seven rebounds. Junior post Martha King and first-year post Alexandra Blake each scored 11 points. Trinity, which led 35-30 at halftime, shot 46 percent (29-of-63) from the field to 39.6 percent (21-of-53) for Austin College. The Kangaroos led 40-32 in rebounds.
