Photo by Mary Candee By Mary Candee Contributing Writer The Alamo Heights High School girl’s varsity soccer team suffered its second district loss of the season, falling 7-0 on the road to a very tough Dripping Springs squad Feb. 13. The varsity boys lost to Dripping Springs at home, 2-0. Dripping Springs scored their first goal of the evening at the 17-minute mark, finishing the half 1-0. Their second goal of the night came with two minutes remaining in the game. Earlier in the evening, the AHHS junior varsity was the only team to notch a win, 2-0. The girls and boys teams quickly returned to form again with both varsity teams on the road Friday, beating Bandera, 3-0 and 2-0, respectively. The varsity boys scored their first goal 18 minutes into the first half on an assist by Jorge Zerecero to Jim Thompson. Seven minutes later, Adrian Alducin scored on a 10-yard volley off a throw-in from James Bailey. Bandera had zero shots on goal thanks to the defensive efforts of the Mules. This is the sixth shutout of the season for Alamo Heights varsity boys. Their district record is 4-4-1 and 6-5-1 overall. The JV boys and girls hosted Bandera at home, with the JV boys winning 2-0 and the JV girls with a 5-0 victory. The JV boys play on the road at 10 a.m. Saturday in New Braunfels, with varsity starting at noon.
