 Trinity diver Lauren Walstad demonstrates the form that earned her Honorable Mention All-American honors. Trinity University Tigers junior diver Lauren Walstad earned Honorable Mention All-America Honors recently at the NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Houston. Walstad placed 12th in the 1-meter diving (372.30 points) and 14th on the 3-meter board (389.00) at the University of Houston Campus Recreational Fitness and Wellness Center. She won two events at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships last month in Crawfordsville, Ind. Walstad scored 437.75 points on the 1-meter and 472.10 on the 3-meter, setting records on both boards. She was named SCAC Female Diver of the Year for the second consecutive time, as she won both events in 2006. In January, Walstad captured the Tiger Invitational titles at Trinity’s Hixon Natatorium. She set Trinity and SCAC records while winning the 3-meter competition with a 491.15. Walstad won the 1-meter with 406.15 points. Junior diver Ryan Cook is competing today through Saturday at the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, also in Houston. Cook is slated to compete on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. It will mark his third straight trip to the NCAA Championships. He won this year’s SCAC 1-meter (441.95) and placed second on the 3-meter board (460.30). Cook was named the 2005 SCAC Male Diver of the Year, winning the 1-meter (427.70) and 3-meter (493.60) competition. He was runner-up at last year’s conference meet. He also has the distinction of being a two-time All-American. Cook was an All-American on the 3-meter and honorable mention All-American on the 1-meter diving boards in 2005 and 2006.
