Trinity’s Mulvey named softball player of week |

 Erin Mulvey Trinity University senior Erin Mulvey was recently selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. She also became Trinity’s all-time winning pitcher after a 1-0 victory over Coe College (Iowa) March 10 at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Leadoff Classic in Panama City, Fla. Mulvey now has 36 career victories. She also was selected for the NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team. Mulvey went 3-2 last week, posting an ERA of 1.52 and pitching in all six of Trinity’s games at the NFCA tournament. Mulvey started four games, earning two shutouts and combining on a third. Mulvey’s efforts helped the Tigers to the third-best ERA in the entire tournament as she also struck out 29 hitters in 23 innings, allowing just five earned runs and three walks. For the season, Mulvey is 6-4 with a 2.74 ERA (fourth in the SCAC) and a league-leading 55 strikeouts in 46 innings of work. She has six complete games and three shutouts in nine starts, allowing just 18 earned runs and a batting average of just .178 this year (fourth in the SCAC). Her six wins are also tops in the conference. Another milestone was set as senior pitcher Jillian Degerness joined Trinity’s record books as the hurler with the most appearances.
