“Our communities are top priority at GVTC,” said Ritchie Sorrells, president and chief executive officer of GVTC. “We are excited to announce the third year of this event that will once again raise thousands of dollars to benefit our children.”

“We’re overwhelmed by GVTC’s support of our Foundation which benefits students and teachers in Comal ISD,” Klaus Weiswurm, president of the Comal Public School Foundation, said. “All tournament proceeds will go directly to classrooms for innovative projects and programs initiated by our teachers.”

River Crossing Country Club features 18 holes of championship golf nestled in a setting that offers a panoramic view of the Texas Hill Country. It is located in Spring Branch off of U.S. 281.

The response has been so overwhelming this year, the tournament will consist of both a morning and afternoon flight. Teams of foursomes will make up the field of 216 players in the scramble, a format which has players moving up after each stroke to the ball with their team’s best lie.

Engraved prizes will be awarded to the team with the best net score in each of the flights. Prizes are also awarded for closest to the pin and longest drive.

A hosted cocktail party at the country club and a sumptuous banquet follow the day’s play.

A number of packages are available to those who want to participate in the event. In addition, sponsors are sought for dinner, goodie bags, beverages and door prizes.

• Gold Sponsor package - Includes one foursome, one hole sponsorship, Corporate Logo placement on tournament banner and printed materials. Gold gift bag for all golfers that includes shirts, shopping spree, and golf balls, along with green fees, golf cart, door prizes, lunch and dinner, $2,500.

• Silver Sponsor package - Includes one foursome and Corporate Logo placement on tournament banner. Silver gift bag for all golfers includes shirts, golf balls, and shopping spree, along with green fees, golf cart, door prizes, lunch and dinner, $1,500.

Green fees are $175 for an individual golfer and include a generous box lunch, cart, course play and refreshments, banquet, and chances for prize drawings. The Comal Public School Foundation supports educational programs for both students and staff of the Comal Independent School District. The Foundation provides funds for educational programs and activities that either have not been funded or have been under-funded in the normal operating budget.
