Once again, Incarnate Word’s Cardinals swam themselves into a position of prominence among the elite teams in the nation for synchronized swimming.

For the third straight spring, UIW finished third in the U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championships conducted over the weekend in Norton, Mass.

The Cardinals compiled 68 points to place behind three-time national champion Stanford (97). Ohio State University was second.

Incarnate Word was led by a third-place finish in the team event, and by two fourth places. Senior Danielle Kramer was fourth in the solo swim while the team of junior Emily Van Vleck and sophomore Lyssa Wallace were fourth in duets.

Over in the trios, those three—Wallace, Van Vleck, Kramer—combined to finish fifth as the best UIW team. Final team results: 1. Stanford, 97 points; 2. Ohio State, 84; 3. Incarnate Word, 68; 4. Alabama-Birmingham, 61; 5. Canisius, 59.5; 6. Keuka, 39.5; 7 Arizona, 38.5; 8. Wheaton, 38; 9. Florida, 35.5; Tie for 10. Carleton, 20.5; T10. Michigan, 20.5; T10. Richmond, 20.5; T10. Walsh, 20.5.

Team event: 1. Stanford, 98.833; 2. Ohio State, 98.167; 3. Incarnate Word, 95.500.
