El Rey Fido coronation ‘paw’ty
The Humane Society and Fifi & Fidos Pet Boutique are having a coronation “paw”ty for this year’s El Rey Fido from 1 to 5 p.m. April 15 at the boutique, located at 555 E. Basse Road, Suite 111. Pet owners can get their best friend microchipped for $25, and there’s music, a fashion show, door prizes from Pet Butler, nail clipping, professional pet photography by Renee Spade, free training sessions from Lucy’s Doggy Day Care, and more. Make sure to bring your leashed dog to enjoy the fun. The event benefits the Humane Society.

Fiesta Especial for special needs kids
Fiesta Especial is a two-day official Fiesta San Antonio event catering specifically to the special needs community in San Antonio. Taking place April 20 to 21 at the campus of the River City Christian School, 5810 Blanco Road, the entry fee is $2. Local partners in the care and education of special needs children will set up information booths. For the first time, many of the children attending will be taken out of their wheelchairs to enjoy carnival rides selected with their needs in mind. Walk Across Texas
Walk Across Texas® is the San Antonio Botanical Garden official Fiesta event and celebrates aspects of life in Texas during the pioneer era. Families can enjoy biscuits and coffee provided by Pioneer Flour Mill before visiting the Texas Native Trail. Pioneer activities will also be available to garden visitors throughout the morning. Dance Kaleidoscope 2007
The San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet present “Dance Kaleidoscope 2007,” an annual Fiesta event featuring a number of guest artists performing classical to contemporary works with music from Tchaikovsky to Gershwin. A reception starts at 5:30 p.m., and the performance begins at 7 p.m. at the Jo Long Theater at the Carver Community Cultural Center, 226 N. Hackberry. The show prices are $20 and $25 for adults, $15 for students and seniors and $12 for children. Call the Carver box office at 207-2234 for information.

Proceeds benefit the ballet’s educational outreach programs.

Fiesta Arts Fair
The Southwest School of Art and Craft holds its Fiesta Art Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 21 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22 at 300 Augusta. More than 125 artists from across the nation will exhibit and sell ceramics, drawings, fiber arts, glass, furniture, jewelry, paintings, photographs, wearable art, sculpture and more. Admission is $6 for adults, $10 for a two-day pass, $3 for children 5 to 12 years old and kids under 5 free with an adult. Click on www.swschool.org for more information.

Beethoven Maennerchor Gartenfest
Looking for some authentic German music and cooking? Head to the Beethoven Garten at 422 Pereida St, off S. Alamo, for the annual Fiesta Gartenfest April 25 to 27. Enjoy live oompah bands and other music, real German food and adult beverages, and much more. Dancing goes on from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. Cost is $3 pre-sale and $5 at the gate.
