The Alamo Heights Lady Mules Varsity softball team is enjoying a great season, as they currently sit atop the District 27-4A standings in a tie with the Boerne Greyhounds.

Sporting an impressive 6-1 district record and an overall mark of 19-7, the Mules are led by sophomore pitcher Maddie Anes (12 wins against 6 losses) and sophomore hurler Callie Caesar (6-1).

“We’re improving every game and just need to take care of business to secure our spot,” said Alamo Heights Head Coach Tim Stuewe, who is pleased with the Mules’ performance. “We’re playing well defensively and are also hitting well, batting over .300 as a team.  We hope to win at least two of our remaining three district games and qualify for the playoffs.”

The Mules traveled to Fredericksburg on Tuesday and face Boerne at home Friday in a showdown of the district leaders.  Friday’s contest starts at 7 p.m. with the junior varsity playing at 5:30 p.m.
