Kendalia couple drown

Two Kendalia residents drowned this past week when they were swept away by rushing creekwaters near their ranch, said Kendall County authorities.

At about 11:55 a.m. May 3, emergency personnel responded to a call for a suspected drowning. An employee arriving for work at the Granberg Ranch at 634 Crabapple Road in Kendalia reported that he discovered the vehicles of the owners, David and Patricia Granberg, parked and unattended on a road on the ranch property near a water crossing.

The employee went to phone for help then returned to search for the owners, the body of one of whom he found along the water’s edge downstream from the crossing. Volunteer fire department personnel located the second body further downstream.

The vehicle of Patricia Granberg, 75, was off of the roadway at the water crossing, while that of David Granberg, 82, was at the water’s edge, still running, with the lights on.

Kendall County Sheriff’s investigators postulate that Mr. Granberg went to assist his wife at the water crossing when they were swept away by rushing flow from an intense rainfall the prior evening.

Their immediate family members were notified. The bodies were released to Croft’s Funeral Home in Blanco.

Feds, local agencies arrest Kendall man on drug charges

Local and federal agencies converged for a Kendall County drug bust Friday in the Ranger Creek subdivision, where they arrested a 31-year-old man on federal charges of drug trafficking.

Around 10 a.m. Friday, officers from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration, assisted by the Boerne Police Department’s K-9 Unit, conducted a narcotics search in the 200 block of Doeskin Road and seized guns, cocaine, methamphetimines and marijuana along with paraphernalia used to package and sell the drugs. The owner of the home was identified as Jack Ryan White, who was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver.

Kendall County Sheriff Roger Duncan said Whtie is also facing federal parole violations and firearms-possession charges.

“There were large amounts of money in White’s bank accounts, which will be frozen at this time, and there is the possibility that his house and vehicle will be seized in connection with these violations,” Duncan said. White, who was arrested without incident, is in federal custody, he said.
