Bandera, Kendall, Kerr and Gillespie counties will be hosting the annual Meat Goat Field Day on Thursday, May 24. The event will be held at the Bandera County Junior Livestock Showbarn in Bandera beginning at 4:30 p.m. A producer panel of Bob Duke, manager of 4-D Ranch in Utopia; Kenneth Nickel, Nickel Ranch in Boerne; and Robert Hoyland in Bandera will discuss breeding programs, marketing programs, nutrition/pasture management, health programs, and predators. Rick Machen will then discuss a meat goat management calendar for our area. The meeting will conclude by evaluating a group of Boer bucks and discussing their merits. Two CEU’s will be given.
