Dan Heckler By Dan Heckler Boerne Mayor
I want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s city election. Just over 1,300 people voted for a new mayor and for two council members, which is about 23 percent of the registered voters. This year’s voter turnout was greater than last year’s turnout; hopefully, the number of voters will continue to increase in future elections. I am proud to be your new mayor and I look forward to working with all of the members of the City Council. The council has some challenges this year, but we also have opportunities to make improvements now that the five quality of life bonds passed. By working together, Boerne will continue to be one of the “best places to live in America.” Almost all the candidates agreed on the issues facing Boerne: growth, traffic congestion, and ensuring an adequate water supply for the future. These issues must be addressed. I maintain that the quality of life that we enjoy now cannot, and should not, be compromised because of changes that are occurring. I will hold firm in my desire to keep our city unique, prosperous and inviting for generations to come. Our children depend on us to preserve the city’s character, landscape, historic buildings, and features that we love so much. Many people worked hard for what we have today and I will stand firm to preserve everything that we hold dear. I will remain loyal and faithful to this city and to those who call Boerne their home. Our focus must be on the future of our city. Our words and our actions must move us into a positive direction for Boerne. The decisions that we make today will have a lasting impact for many years to come. Mutual respect and common sense must prevail in order to find solutions to the issues facing us today. With your support, encouragement, and prayers, the Boerne City Council can accomplish much that will make everyone proud.
