Campbell Three names have come to the fore as the selection process gains momentum at University of Incarnate Word in an extensive search for a head football coach. In mid-April, the University announced an NCAA Division II scholarship football program to begin play in the fall of 2009. Since that time, a search committee has been accepting and reviewing applications. With the first round of interviews completed, three persons have reached the next round. Santiago UIW Athletic Director Mark Papich said that, inside of the next two weeks, those three will have visited the campus for additional meetings with University representatives. The three are Dean Campbell, former defensive backfield coach at the United States Air Force Academy; Richard Cundiff, former head coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville; and Mike Santiago, former offensive coordinator at Utah State. Cundiff “All three of these men have excellent coaching credentials and our committee quickly identified them as persons who might fit what Incarnate Word is doing,” Papich said. “We are building a football program from the ground up and we are looking for a coach with a strong personal commitment to our long range goals. We are optimistic that one of these will step forward as an ideal fit for UIW.”
