Angel ProgramThe San Antonio Hotel and Lodging Association has once again opened its Angels Program online store to the public. Through this store, the public can purchase certificates for items such as hotel rooms and other entertainment attractions at dramatically discounted prices.

One hundred percent of proceeds from the funds raised will benefit the association’s charitable work throughout the San Antonio community.

Each year the association’s Angel Committee reviews dozens of application requests from local charities.

The 2007 beneficiaries of the Angels Program will be the Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio, House of Neighborly Service, Junior Achievement, San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries, San Antonio Youth Literacy and WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving and Sharing).

The SAHLA Emergency Fund will also receive an equal share of the proceeds, which will then be divided into ten equal parts – each portion designated to provide financial support for individuals/families in need within each of San Antonio’s ten city council districts.

Hotel giants such as the Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Westin and Omni which typically book rooms at rates from $150 and up have donated their resources to the cause, offering rooms at significantly discounted prices. Limited service hotels such as La Quinta and Drury Inns are also offering their guest rooms at greatly discounted prices.

New additions this year include Capers and Fresh Horizons, who have teamed up to donate their historical scavenger hunt.

Fresh Horizons has also offered a certificate for event rental of their popular chocolate fountain. Other local attractions such as Six Flags, Sea World, Splashtown, Enchanted Springs Ranch, IMAX Theatre, the San Antonio Children’s Museum, the Institute of Texan Cultures and Natural Bridge Caverns have also made their tickets available for purchase in support of the Angel Program.

The public can now support these San Antonio charities and organizations by logging on to www.sanantonio-lodging.org/shop to purchase the certificates at a discounted rate on a first-come, first-served basis.

The store will close in late September 2007, or earlier should all certificates become exhausted.

The mission of the San Antonio Hotel and Lodging Association’s Angel Program is to improve the quality of life for the citizens of San Antonio by using the unique resources available through its membership to create an annual fund that will be shared with non-profit organizations and families in need throughout the San Antonio community.

Following the completion of the Angel Program, checks will be presented to the charities during the October 2007 SAHLA monthly luncheon.
