Boerne policeman receives certificate for MeadowLand service from Roy Maas’ Youth Alternatives

Senior Police Officer Steve Perez was recognized last week by Roy Maas’ Youth Alternatives Inc. for the public safety assistance he provides at MeadowLand.

As part of his regular patrol duties, Officer Perez provides support to the MeadowLand staff when special situations arise between staff and residents. He is also the police department’s representative on the Kendall County Child Services Board, which deals with children under state custody, either at MeadowLand or residing at a private residence.

Police Chief Gary Miller said, “Steve has been a dedicated member of the Child Services Board and relates to many of the children at MeadowLand who have had trouble dealing with the sometimes stressful situations they find themselves in. We are proud to have Steve as a member of the Boerne Police Department.”

“Roy Maas’ Youth Alternatives, Inc., also known as MeadowLand, has always believed in utilizing a mulltidisciplinary approach.as we work with abused, neglected, and abandoned children,” commented executive director, Anita M. Johnston. “This team effort includes the help and cooperation of the Boerne Police Department.”

Johnston added, “With this in mind, our agency felt that it was most appropriate to recognize Officer Steve Perez, who epitomizes this strong and productive working relationship.

Last year, Perez also helped organize a Christmas party, complete with Blue Santa, for the Kendall County foster care children. Perez has 10 years of law enforcement experience and has been a member of the Boerne police force since1999.
