No reservations are necessary for groups of five or fewer. Thursday, July 12 A Boerne Chamber of Commerce luncheon is held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Helena’s Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St., Boerne. Mary Miksa, senior vice president of governmental affairs for the Texas Association of Business, will present an update on the 80th legislative session. The luncheon is sponsored by Independence Village at the Dominion and catered by the Hungry Horse Restaurant. Reservations are required by Monday, by calling (830) 249-0889. The lunch is $20 for members, $30 for potential members. No-shows will be billed. The Leon Springs Business Association meets 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Las Palapas, 23725 Interstate 10 West (on the access road off of Boerne Stage Road). The meeting is a happy-hour networking mixer with no speaker and no cover. All LSBA volunteers are encouraged to attend and bring a fellow Leon Springs business associate. Guests are welcome. A community awareness meeting on the progress of the Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department, which is to serve the eastern portion of Kendall County, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Kendall County Fairgrounds. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. The risks of fire, the importance of response times, the impact on insurance rates and a construction timeline will be covered. Architectural plans for the building will be show along with artist renditions of the front of the building on Highway 46.The fire station will serve the communities of Pleasant Valley, Coveney, Bergheim, Kendall Woods Estates, Silver Hills, Meadow Springs Estates, Cordillera, North Barcroft Estates, Hold-em, Sage Oaks, Dresden Woods, Waterstone and surrounding areas. Saturday, July 14 Boerne Market Days features dozens of vendors from all over Texas offering arts and crafts, antiques, collectibles, unusual items and plenty of food on Boerne’s Main Plaza.
