Paula White By Paula WhiteThe chamber is again hosting a forum to discuss water issues in our area. The water forum will be held 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 1 at the Boerne Convention and Community Center. Registration for this free public forum will begin at 7:30 a.m. Hosted by the chamber’s Governmental Affairs Council, under the direction of co-chairs Madellaine Costello and Matt Diana, the forum will address this particular issue on a regional basis. To that end, the Governmental Affairs Council has lined up speakers and panelists who have the expertise to educate and discuss the concerns about water availability now and for future needs for our entire region. The goal for this forum will be to educate both business owners and residents alike about water management, water availability and water relationships between multiple entities. Moderator will be Robert Mace, director of groundwater resources division with the Texas Water Development Board and speakers include State Rep. Robert Puente, Tommy Matthews of Cow Creek Groundwater Conservation District, Bill West of Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA), Dr. Candace Jacobs, vice president of quality assurance and environmental affairs for HEB in San Antonio, and State Rep. Nathan Macias. Additional panelists are Richard Garcia of TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality), Boerne City Manager Ron Bowman, Kendall County Judge Gaylan Schroeder and several other panelists to be announced at a later date. The water forum is free, and the public is invited to attend. To assure adequate space is provided, please call the chamber at (830) 249-8000 to reserve your spot though.
