Kendally County sheriff’s deputies, confronted by an irritated, intoxicated and uncooperative man, deployed bean-bag projectiles to bring a potentially deadly situation to a relatively peaceful conclusion Monday.

Responding to a domestic disturbance call at 21 Zoeller Lane at 2:12 a.m. Monday, deputies were told by a woman that her brother, Chris Cobb, had fired a .35 caliber revolver in the direction of his girlfriend before the two women fled and summoned help.

The deputies were directed to a metal barn on the back of the property where the man was reportedly in a travel trailer inside the structure.

Cobb then left the trailer and walked toward the deputies, according to reports, and failed to comply when given several commands to stop and lay down on the ground.

“Knowing that Cobb had been in possession and used a firearm, and was highly intoxicated, agitated and uncooperative, the deputies deployed two less-than-lethal bean-bag impact projectiles in an attempt to de-escalate a potentially violent confrontation,” a sheriff’s office release stated.

The bean bags struck Cobb, who dropped to the ground and was immediately handcuffed without incident.

Emergency medical personnel examined Cobb and released him to the deputies, who booked him into the Kendall County Jail for deadly conduct-discharging firearm.
