The Episcopal School of Texas plans to add several more Advanced Placement (AP) courses to its upper school curriculum.

For the fourth consecutive year, more than 80 percent of TMI students enrolled in AP courses made qualifying scores of 3, 4 or 5 on a five-point scale. Administered by the College Board, the end-of-year examinations test students nationwide on their command of subject matter studied in college-level courses, with scores of 3 and above qualifying them to receive college credit.

At TMI last year, 62 students took 109 AP exams in 15 different subject areas. Their results from last spring’s AP exams included scores from two new AP courses, Computer Science and Government, first offered last year. The school will add AP Calculus BC for the 2007-2008 school year, AP Latin: Catullus and Ovid in 2008-2009, with other new AP courses also planned for the near future.

“Our AP program is growing because of the tremendous faculty we have and because of the interest, diligence and talent of our student body,” says Bob Ridewood, TMI’s head of upper school.
