Theft

Aug. 12, 4 p.m., 11200 block of Potranco Road
Police were called to the Wal-Mart for a report of shoplifting. An employee said he saw two women leaving the store, but only one paid for her items. Police recovered chicken, a package of American cheese, a can of tomato sauce, rolls, a tomato and a package of Oreo cookies. After she was read her rights, one 25-year-old suspect told police she took the items because she didn’t have any food at home for her children. The second woman admitted she knew her friend was stealing. A check by police showed the second woman had five Municipal Court warrants outstanding. The two were arrested and the items returned to the store.
