COMING SOON! – the Bulverde Senior Center’s annual style show and luncheon. The event is scheduled for Oct. 13 at the Gathering Place, 17130 State Highway 46 East in Spring Branch.

The Sassy Spur, Cristal’s and Two Chic Chicks are providing fall apparel for the show. The luncheon will be catered by the Gathering Place and promises to be a treat.

Please note: these fashions are not for seniors only, but a broad range of fall clothing styles will be shown, from teen to seniors. Our models include students from Smithson Valley High School, Texas Hills Bank, the community and BSC members.

Owners of the clothing businesses will be on hand to provide informative descriptions of the fashions.

Besides the luncheon and the opportunity to view the latest in fall fashions, there will be door prizes and gift baskets. Our own talented Jeni Weeks, a volunteer who manages our gift shop, is making centerpieces for each table at the luncheon.

Plan to attend with your family, friends, and neighbors What a good way to treat someone who has done a favor for you. Tickets are $20 per person and are available at the above named businesses, as well as the Senior Center. Advance purchase is required. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Bulverde Senior Center.

Coming up next week at BSC is the Fall Pancake Breakfast, ffrom 8 to 11 a.m. Sept. 29. Um … um ... this popular event always has good food. Pancakes will be served with ham or sausage, juice, coffee and fruit. Cost is a $5 donation for adults, $3 for children. Come join your friends for food and fun!

Members have shown interest in the following new activities, which are in the planning stage: a movie day to be held twice a month; trades day, once every two months, in which used items in good condition will be donated for sale; a drawing and painting class; and a leather working class. Please sign up if you are interested in participating in these new events.

On Sept. 21 AARP is sponsoring the defensive driving class “55 Alive,” scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.

There are always a lot of activities going on at the center – come in, pick up a monthly schedule and participate in those of interest to you. There are exercise classes, games, bingo, support groups, and craft opportunities. Or offer your own suggestions for new classes. The center is located at 30280 Cougar Bend and is open from Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as several evenings and some Saturdays for special events. Phone number is (830) 438-3111.
