Nearly 70 seniors came together at the Bulverde Senior Center Monday for games and lunch. We were happy to welcome two new members, Rosie Powers and Ora Flowers, and hope to see them often. We also had a visitor, Michael Biggler.

After lunch and announcements, more people came to play Bunco or participate in Encore at 1 p.m.

As always, we missed those who we haven’t seen for awhile. We wish them good health if they’ve been ill or safe travel if that is the case.

We have added even more suggested activities for consideration. Please look for the sign-up sheets at the center and add your name, showing interest in the ones you choose. We need to know the numbers to follow up with a time plan for the most popular choices. We want to offer the things that the majority are interested in doing.

A pancake breakfast will be served this Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Senior Center on Cougar Bend. This is such a good opportunity for neighbors to meet and share the happenings of the week, while enjoying pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and fruit. A donation of $5 for adults and $3 for children is requested.

Jenni Weeks has prepared beautiful new fall and Christmas flower arrangements, and they are available in our gift shop to purchase.

There are still a few copies there of The Last King of Texas, autographed by author Rick Riordan, that would make a perfect gift for a friend who is a reader of mysteries. There are still one or two pieces of the beautiful wall art work for sale, as well as jewelry and gift baskets. Our craft participants keep us supplied with craft items for the gift shop, as well. We hope you will use the BSC gift shop. This is a hidden treasure in our area.

There is a buzz in the air about the Fall Style Show and Luncheon on Oct. 13. Volunteers have been working hard to make this year’s event the best ever. Lots of door prizes have been donated to present to lucky attendees.

Tickets must be purchased in advance for $20 and this includes the lunch and the style show. They are available only in advance at Cristal’s, Two Chic Chicks, Sassy Spur, the Gathering Place and the Bulverde Senior Center. All three stores will provide fall fashions. Proceeds will benefit the senior center.

The cutoff on ticket sales is Oct. 8, so be sure you get yours this next week. If you cannot go, but would like to purchase a ticket to have flagged for a teen or adult who couldn’t otherwise attend, we would appreciate your thoughtful donation. You do not have to be a member of BSC to attend.
