Fall is in the air, at least for a few times already this year we’ve enjoyed a “spot or two” of cooler weather. I don’t know about you, but I am ready for cool mornings and evenings at the very least. And fall in Boerne means lots of activities. There is of course one of my favorite events that has been around for quite a few years, the Key to the Hills Rod Run. This annual event will be Oct. 12-14 in downtown Boerne. You can see some really cool vintage cars and meet some really nice folks from all over the country who come to display their cars for all to see and enjoy. Boerne Market Days will be held the same weekend within a block or two of the Rod Run so don’t miss that event that is held usually the second weekend of the month every month except January.

Also on that weekend of October, will be the monthly Second Saturday Art and Wine Event plus the Cibolo Nature Center’s Annual Gala will be held that Saturday evening. If you can’t find something fun to do in Boerne the second weekend of October, then something is wrong. The only problem you should encounter is how to fit all the events into your schedule.

The very next weekend the fun continues with the Annual Boerne Festival of Arts and Music complete with live music, art exhibits and sales, and lots of fine food and drink. This event continues to grow and get better and better every year. The Cibolo Arts Council and the Boerne Area Artists Association have teamed up to make this event possible. This same weekend is the date set for the Pre-Holiday Craft Show and Chili Cook-Off at the Kendall County Fairgrounds and the 3rd Annual Wild West Day at Enchanted Springs Ranch.

As if that weren’t enough for you to do in October, the fourth weekend continues to be filled with fun events for locals, and for tourists alike. The Key to the Hills Antique Show sponsored by the Boerne Chamber of Commerce will be held at Kendall County Fairgrounds. This year we have a record number of dealers who will be doing the show. We are very excited about some new dealers who will be included this year, as well as many of our returning dealers who will be bringing lots of quality antiques and collectibles.

Many other events happens during October in and around Boerne. There is not enough room in this column to name them all, but click on www.visitboerne.org to see a complete listing of events that we are aware of. Or for more information, call our Convention and Visitors Bureau at (830) 249-7277 and ask one of our knowledgeable volunteers or staff members for information. Boerne is never a dull place. You should take advantage of many of these events this fall. Kick back and enjoy what the Texas Hill Country has to offer. If you are bored after all that, call us and we’ll put you to work collecting trash for the Keep Boerne Beautiful Make A Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 27. Get out. Get involved.
