78238 Jewelry theft Sept. 20, 6 p.m., 6300 NW Loop 410 A woman working at a jewelry store was approached by two men and was told that one of the men was looking for an anniversary gift for his parents. The woman began showing the man a necklace and pendant while the other man began talking to another person in the store. The woman was holding the necklace and pendant in her hand when the man grabbed them from her and both men ran out of the store. The suspects jumped into a white Nissan and sped away. Police searched for fingerprints where the suspect stood and a neighboring jewelry store was able to capture one of the suspects on its video surveillance equipment. 78249 Stolen purse and assault Sept. 22, 11 a.m., 5200 block of De Zavala Road A woman exiting her vehicle was approached by a man who was asking for directions to Fiesta Texas. She started to give him directions when he plunged at her and grabbed her purse. As he ripped the purse from her arms, the woman fell on the asphalt. The right side of the woman’s head was cut and bleeding and she had scrapes on her right hand and knee. A witness saw the man drive away in a silver Sunfire towards DeZavala Road. 78250 Man threatens own life, and wife’s Sept. 19, 6 p.m., 9200 block of Amber Ridge A man and woman arguing in their home led to the man pulling a knife on his wife and then a gun on himself. After arriving home, the woman found her husband drunk and upset from stress at work and he complained that she had not cleaned out the garage. The woman threatened that she would put his stuff out for charity to pick up, at which point the man said “I’ll kill you if you do.” The man went to the bedroom and grabbed a hunting knife as the wife grabbed the phone to call police. After the man realized that she called the police, he grabbed a 9 mm handgun and stated that since the cops were coming, he had nothing to live for. After police arrived, the woman told them that her husband was armed at which point police took a tactical position on the side of the house and called for backup. Unknown to police, the woman re-entered the home and talked her husband into surrendering his weapon and turned himself over to police custody. 78251 Argument leads to front yard brawl Sept. 22, 5 p.m., 2600 block of Westover View A man helping his brother-in-law move ended up in a scuffle after a neighbor’s wife and the man got into a brief argument. The U-Haul trailer that they were loading was parked in a driveway and partially in the street and as the woman drove by she and the man argued because she was not able to get by. The woman’s husband then went over to the man and reportedly lunged at him, at which point the man swung at the husband. The men began fighting in the front yard. After police questioning, the husband reported going over to the brother-in-law’s house with his young son and asked the homeowner, “Who disrespected my wife?” The husband claims that the man then came from behind the homeowner and said, “I did,” which led to the fight. The homeowner stated that he felt like the husband came over to his home in an aggressive manner and that both the man and the husband threw punches at the same time.
