Nature didn’t fill the void. Retail did. The Rim Shopping Center opened outside Loop 1604 at Interstate 10 to acclaim a year ago with the opening of Bass Pro Shop. The big lunker has been joined over the ensuing months by numerous stores such as the popular Best Buy, Target, Ross, Old Navy, Kirkland, J.C. Penney, DSW Shoes and James Avery Jeweler. Shoppers won’t go hungry. There are plenty of restaurants, too. Chick-fil-A, Red Robin, T.G.I Friday’s are among them.
