If Kendall County isn’t considered the Antiques Capital of Texas, it should be. Not only ar the streets of Boerne and Comfort lines with individual shops and malls, but the county also plays host to some of the best antiques shows this side of Round Top.

The successful antiques show sponsored by the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce draws predictable crowds each year and continues to grow. The two day event is held at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, just off Highway 46 East. Antiques dealers travel from throughout the state and country to participate in the popular show, which features a moderately priced selection of antiques and collectibles including an enticing array of furniture, jewelry, rare books, pottery, art glass, vintagee linens and clothing, primitives and folk art.

For more information on the Key to the Hills Antique Show, Oct. 27-28, call the chamber at (830) 249-8000 or log onto www.boerne.org.

Every year more than 50 dealers of country and rustic furniture, period accessories, vintage quilts, folk art and stoneware pottery convene in Comfort Park in the small community for what has become one of the most anticipated antiques shows in the Hill Country. Tommy and Lori Titsworth of Texas Presentations directe the annual antiques extravaganza.

Sylvia Titsworth started the Comfort show at the request of the Comfort Heritage Foundation. “I wanted it to be similar to shows that I had attended in New England and Main,” she said. “I’ve always loved outdoor shows in a country atmosphere. The gazebo convinced me that this was the perfect place for an antiques show.

Antiques dealers from throughout the Lone Star State also converge in February for the annual Boerne Optimist Hill Country Antique Show & Sale, also directed tby Tommy and Lori Titsworth. One dealer characterizes it as “the best antiques show in the Hill Country.” An array of furniture, glassware, porcelain, toys, textiles, pottery. Folk art and architectural elements never fails to tempt show-goers searching for authentic antiques.

Antiques shows aside, the area is replete with retailers selling vintage wares.
