One of the area’s most treasured recreational sites is the Cibolo Nature Center. According to www.cibolo.org, in 1988, Carolyn Chipman Evans approached Boerne city leaders about restoring and preserving 100 acres of public land. Her efforts yielded the Cibolo Nature Center, located at Highway 46 and City Park Road in Boerne. The Center – a place for “field trips, family outings, or private moments,” offers a variety of activities for the entire family, including walking through trails in four different ecosystems: forest, marsh, creekside and prairie. In addition, visitors can observe plants, wildlife, birds and wildflowers or attend one of the many educational seminars or workshops on conservation and environmental stewardship. Cibolo Nature Center Hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m.-1 pm; Sunday 1-5 pm. Trails are open daily 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Call (830) 249-1646 or e-mail
