Chamber hires new tourism director |

 COC Chairman Chad Upham and new Visitors Center Director Larry Woods The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce has recently hired a new tourism director to fill the position recently left vacant by David Cooksey. Larry Woods, who began assuming the duties Oct. 8, has more than 20 years of tourism experience in hospitality sales and marketing, specializing in innovative strategies to generate revenue in the tourism industry. He has 16 years of advertising experience including collateral and print media, including several Addy Awards in the marketing industry. As president of The Woods Group, he worked internationally with tourism partners to develop marketing strategies as well as with several well known hotels doing feasibility studies, marketing plan development, and sales training. In the past Woods served as vice president of marketing for Tapatio Springs Resort and Conference Center. He also served as director of sales for Del Lago Hotel and Resort in Montgomery, Texas, the Radisson Hotel in Visalia, Calif., the Sheraton Hotel in Newport Beach, Calif., the Hershey Hotel in Corpus Christi, and La Mansion Del Rio, San Antonio. “With a lifetime career in the tourism industry, Larry comes well equipped to serve as our Tourism Director and we are very excited to have him on our team,” the COC announced. “Please welcome Larry when you see him and look for some wonderful things to come for our community as he promotes Boerne to Texas and beyond.”
