Each year, during Fire Safety Week, Boerne firefighters prepare and present a program for the town's school children. Students in grades K-2 are treated to a puppet show, learn to use fire hoses and learn to crawl beneath the “smoke” in a specially equipped tent.  The activities are engaging and entertaining while teaching important emergency techniques. Community input sought on NISD five-year strategic plan

Northside ISD is seeking input and guidance from students, parents, staff, and community members as the district develops its next five-year strategic plan for 2008-2013.

A strategic plan survey in both English and Spanish now is available online to provide input.

The strategic plan serves as a road map for the areas of curriculum and instruction, communications, budget and finance, partnerships, facilities, safe and secure schools, technology, and human resources.

“It’s so important that we have feedback from as many people in the community as possible because the Strategic Plan will guide District decision-making for the next five years,” Superintendent John Folks said.

Brandeis Broncos’ colors put to run-off vote

It's official. The mascot for the new NISD high school to serve residents including the Interstate 10 corridor is the Brandeis Bronco.

Interested residents are being asked to participate in an online run-off election to help decide school colors. Voting will be available until Nov. 1.

Will the Brandeis Broncos be hunter green and black? Will the Brandeis Broncos be flame orange and navy blue?

Research of area school colors found no schools with orange and navy blue. However, another area high school (not a Northside school) has the colors green and black. Winning colors will be posted on the Brandeis school Web site by the middle of November.
