CISD demographer suggests GR-area school The demographer for the Comal School District has made several recommendations regarding CISD’s growth, including building an elementary campus in the Garden Ridge area. Nancy Cobb said the district has grown by an average of about 5.5 percent per year since 2003. Current enrollment is almost 15,100. About 1,000 new students are expected for each of the next several years and by 2014 total enrollment is projected to be more than 22,500. While new campuses are coming on line by 2009, a study Cobb produced recommended several new elementary schools are needed by 2010, including one for the Garden Ridge area. However, Cobb said the district conceivably could close the existing Comal Elementary School in Schertz.
