Special to the Herald

The non-profit Walzem Road Area Revitalization board of directors will sponsor its second neighborhood sweep from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 17. Volunteers will rally at Montgomery Elementary School on Montgomery Drive.

This time, WRAR will merge its neighborhood clean-up activities with another neighborhood organization. In this case, Crownwood Home Owners and Renters Neigh-borhood will help to maximize resources being provided by the Bexar Metropolitan Water District and Bexar County Public Works.

In addition, the Montgo-mery Neighborhood Associa-tion will provide additional gate keepers at the collection point at New World and Montgomery to extend its hours of accessibility.

This will allow residents in the Walzem/ Montgomery area to deposit brush until 5 p.m. Nov. 17 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 18. Residents cannot deposit hazardous waste or tires.

Discarded items such as large appliances and air conditioners can be removed free of charge by Wise Guys Recyling for residents in the participating area by calling 279-4380 for pick up time appointment prior to Nov. 17 or by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Individuals interested in volunteering or donating items for clean-up efforts can call 467-9394 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
