The Schertz Police Department is investigating an early Monday morning incident in which a security guard was shot and killed during a robbery attempt at a local online gaming room.

Police were dispatched to My Internet Services, in the 500 block of Schertz Parkway, at 3:19 a.m. Monday for a shooting. Witnesses told officers that three white males had entered the gaming room and demanded money.

According to authorities, one of the suspects struck one customer in the head with a pistol. One of the suspects then began firing shots, striking a security guard. The suspects fled the scene in a four-door car, possibly dark blue or black in color.

Schertz EMS transported Stewart A. Edelman, 44, of San Antonio, to Brooke Army Medical Center, where Edelman died.
