ImageBOERNE – Who likes a box full of goodies? College students and those on your Christmas list who live afar will appreciate a box from Boerne’s very own Beyond Bookmarks. Combining gourmet food and witty gifts, the internet gift company designs meaningful care packages with a twist of good humor – “Gifts with a twist.”

The company was recently featured on SA Living, and Oct. 5 given a rave review in the Wall Street Journal for their college care packages. “Nothing could match Beyond Bookmarks,” the article said. “Specifically, The Stuff Box, the students' pick for Best Overall and Best Value. By combining goofy toys (a Koosh ball, bubbles) with familiar food items, (peanut-butter crackers, Skittles) the package provided just the right sort of study break relief. It even came with an amusing thank-you card to be sent home.”

Beyond Bookmarks designs specialty gifts for college students, the military, teens, kids, corporate clients, and pets.  After years of operating their own individual businesses, sisters Kay Davey and Carol Moore founded Beyond Bookmarks with their philosophy, “Getting is fun. Giving is funner.”

“Beyond Bookmarks offers something that will make people happy, something that will put a smile on someone’s face,” said co-owner Davey.

The company began in March of 2003 in the small town of Ashland City, Tenn. On Jan. 2, 2006, they opened their doors at their Boerne location. Today Davey and Moore with Moore’s daughter Christy Bradshaw run the business from Boerne. Since introducing its line of college care packages in 2003, Beyond Bookmarks has grown from 165 shipments annually to an estimated 6,500 in 2007. In fact, the business has grown so rapidly they are doubling their workspace this year.

The company contributes care packages for college students, summer campers, pets, and the military through organizations such as The Boys & Girls Club, the Make a Wish Foundation, Marine Parents United, local San Antonio schools, and the Hill Country Mission for Health. “It is important to us that we give back to our national community,” Moore said. “What better place to start than right here at home.”
