“The Dining Room,” ending its run this weekend at the Boerne Community Theatre, features a pastiche of scenes in the lives of the WASPs of the northeastern United States. The production features San Antonio actors Christopher Dean, Lisa Hart, Kevin Wilson and Linda McCullers and Boerne resident Keisha McFerrin playing roles ranging from small children to elderly grandparents in 18 scenes that span five decades. Tickets are $13 to $15. Final productions are tonight, Friday and Saturday.

SATURDAY, NOV. 17

“Cedar Biology and Management,” an 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. workshop, presents methods, equipment and choices for cedar clearing recommended by the Forest Service, Parks and Wildlife and the Cooperative Extension Service. On a ranch in western Comal County, three demonstration areas have been cleared for range improvement, forest ecology and wildlife conservation. Come see cedar management  in action and choose the best combination of methods for your land. Participants will carpool from the Cibolo Nature Center, 140 City Park Road, promptly at 8 a.m. Bring lunch, drink and folding chair, and wear sturdy shoes. Cost is $15 for CNC members, $20 for nonmembers. Preregistration is required. Call (830) 249-4616.

Boerne Birders convene at 8 a.m. at the Cibolo Nature Center for their last outing of the year. A friendly group of birders who are happy to share knowledge and guide a bird walk and monthly census, they will bird the 100-acre CNC property. Bring binoculars and a favorite bird book. A farmers’ market is held 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday at the Leon Springs Dance Hall, 24135 W. Interstate 10, in the parking lot at the westbound access road at Boerne Stage Road. A farmer’s market is held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday at the River Rock Events Center courtyard, 30260 Saratoga, off of Keeneland and Ralph Fair Road in Fair Oaks Ranch.

SUNDAY, NOV. 18

A Plein Air Landscape Painting Marathon and Family Fun Day is featured 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Majestic Ranch, 543 Highway 46 West outside Boerne. The open-studio day, which is free of charge, will feature printmaking and painting displays. Join fellow landscape lovers for a day of painting, potluck, fellowship and fun. Call (830) 537-4654 if you plan to attend Plein Air. Some portable easels are available; ask to reserve one when you call. Plein Air painters are asked to bring items for a potluck lunch. Water and soft drinks are available for purchase on site.

“Help Hailey Heal,” an auction event 5 to 9 p.m. at the Kendall County Fairgrounds in Boerne, benefits the family of Boerne middle school student Hailey Kuhn, who suffered a broken back this summer. The fund raiser, which cost $10 for admission, features a live and silent auction, music by Tin South, dinner, games for the kids and more.
