Theft

Oct. 1, 3:01 p.m., 6900 block of Broadway: An assistant principal reported that he had a student in custody for stealing a watch off a teacher’s desk a week earlier. The student was arrested and his parents were notified, and then he was taken to the Bexar County Juvenile Justice Center for booking.

Driving while intoxicated

Oct. 4, 8:29 p.m. 6900 block of Broadway: A truck was clocked at 46 mph in a 30 mph area and a traffic stop was initiated. When the driver was contacted for identification, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol, as well as the woman’s bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and loud tone of voice. The driver first said she had not been drinking, then said she had a few beers earlier and she was in a hurry to get somewhere. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and refused the request for a field sobriety test several times, becoming uncooperative and agitated in the process. When advised she would be arrested for not getting out of the truck, the driver got out and when the officer tried to handcuff her, she jerked away and began to cry. She was eventually handcuffed and put in the police car, and then refused to supply a breath sample. The vehicle was impounded and a cup of wine was found in the vehicle. The driver served with a notice of suspension of her license and was charged with driving while intoxicated and taken to the San Antonio Municipal Court for booking.

Oct. 3, 2:05 p.m., 300 block of Encino: A woman reported someone had broken into her car and had stolen a television set and her daughter’s musical instrument.

Oct. 4, 9:45 p.m., 100 block of Chichester: A suspect broke out the back window of a truck and stole the owner’s gym bag containing clothes and also some heart medication from the back seat.

Oct. 4, 9:45 p.m., 100 block of Chichester: A thief broke the passenger-side window of a car and stole a laptop computer, wireless Internet card, and a folder containing miscellaneous papers from the front seat.

Burglary of vehicle

Oct. 5, 2:51 p.m., 6900 block of Broadway: A car owner reported that his digital music player and several other items had been stolen from his locked vehicle. He had come back to his car and found the vehicle unlocked and the items missing.

Criminal mischief

Oct. 9, 3:25 a.m., 500 block of Austin Highway: A patrol officer saw a local gas station had been tagged with graffiti on a concrete post next to one of the gas pumps. The officer took photos of the markings and had the station manager sign a waiver of prosecution form.
