John P. Kelly Boerne ISD I previously noted unconfirmed reports of a recent Boerne High School graduate who had completed a large number of college hours through our College Board Advanced Placement program. I’m delighted to confirm this stellar accomplishment after corresponding with the student. Brian Reinhart graduated from Boerne High School in 2007 and entered Rice University as a sophomore with 42 hours of AP credit! Brian asked me to issue a “big hearty thank you to all the exceptional AP teachers who helped me during my years in Boerne.” Among those he mentioned are Sue Bachman, Stephanie Fincke, Michelle Holmstrom, Pete Padilla, Jean Toland, Julia Alesii, Kathryn Davis and Chris Ormiston. Among examples he cited Chris Ormiston, “whose teaching inspires students to do the impossible” and Kathryn Davis “who turned me into a writing machine!” Brian goes on to write that “entering college with that many AP credits is indeed an achievement, but it’s an achievement of all these educators just as much as it is mine.” While attending BHS, Brian took the following AP classes: World History, English Language, English Literature, Spanish Language, Physics, Statistics, Macroeconomics, and Psychology. In addition Brian tells me he passed the US history test without enrolling in the class “thanks to some after school help from Mrs. [Ashlie] D’Spain.”
